Charting The Way Forward On Environmental Education In Malaysia: Experiences From The Nishinomiya City, Japan

A Training Programme for Young Leaders (Community Development), focusing on environmental issues and environmental education, was held in Hyogo, Japan from the 14-31 January 2008. Arrangements for the programme were administered by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), commissioned by the Government of Japan in collaboration with 'Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam' (JPA), Malaysia. Representatives from various levels (government,
non-governmental organisations, research institutes as well
as universities) were selected for the training programme.
The programme aimed at providing the younger generation in Malaysia with opportunities to develop knowledge and skills on environmental education matters, besides promoting mutual understanding and friendship through the establishment of a network and exchange of opinions with the relevant organisations and agencies in Japan.
