Abstract

The conservation of marine and coastal ecosystems in Malaysia is divided under the jurisdiction of several Government agencies at national and State level. The division is also evident with regard to legislative and policy implementation. Partial integration is achieved through the establishment of national and State level mechanisms which involve the political, technical and administrative components of the Government. Greater integration is required to prevent and
reduce interagency and interjurisdictional conflicts.
