Destructive Fishing In Malaysia: The Need For Local Participation In Fisheries Management

Fish harvested from wild or aquaculture is one of the major food resources of mankind. According to the report from the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF)1, over two thirds of the world's commercial marine fish stocks are fully exploited, overfished, depleted, or slowly recovering. By 2025, UNPF estimated, the world population would increase to 9.3 billion, putting more pressure on food supply for human consumption.
